Rev. Ben, thanks for this post. The ordinary means of grace are profound in their simplicity, their utter completeness. Which is no surprise given their source. No need to "gussy up" as you so aptly phrased it. That made me giggle! Made me think of my mom, I can hear her using that very description. I miss her.
